Млада Србија је за химну узела препев песме “Србији”, која је први пут објављена 1860. године. Ову предивну родољубиву песму написао је мало познати песник Лука Сарић. Да није написана музика на ове стихове, они вероватно никада не би стигли у нотни “Зборник родољубивих песама”, 1904. године, који је сачинио Владимир Р. Ђорђевић. Лука Сарић није нашао место у антологијама познатих песника, али је његова песма “Србији”, познатија у народу као “О, Србијо, мила мати”, ушла је у душу и крв грађана Србије.

“Oh, Serbia, my dear mother,
I will always call you like that.
My sweet country, my sweet home,
Everyone is in your hart.

Here I live like in paradise,
Where welfare is eternal.
Here I will with happiness,
Spend the rest of my life.”

The Young Serbia has take this song “To Serbia” as hymn. This poem is published for the first time in the year 1860. This marvelous, patriotic lyric has written by poet Luka Saric. It is interesting that before music was written according to these lyrics, it probably would never ever come in to the “Anthology of the Patriotic Poems”, assembled in year 1904. by Vladimir R. Đorđević. Even than, unfortunately, poet Luka Sarić was not included within the anthologies of well-known Serbian poets. But, despite of that, his poem “To Serbia”, better known as “Oh Serbia My Dear Mother”, has found its way to the heart and soul of the citizens of Serbia.
